Metalsmith Bootcamp – Intensive Jewelry Making Workshop Malaysia

Metalsmith Bootcamp – Intensive Jewelry Making Workshop Malaysia

6 days, 6 projects. Build a strong foundation in metalsmithing through six progressively structured projects.

Designed for beginners and aspiring makers, the Metalsmith Bootcamp introduces the essential techniques used to fabricate jewellery by hand. Rather than simply completing six individual pieces, each project builds on skills introduced earlier — helping you develop greater accuracy, control and confidence at the bench.

What to Expect

Across six hands-on sessions, you’ll work through six projects covering pendants, earrings, rings and a bracelet cuff.

Each session lasts approximately 3 to 4.5 hours.

You’ll begin with fundamental techniques such as texturing, piercing, drilling, forming and finishing before progressing into soldering, ring construction and more detailed fabrication.

By the end of the Bootcamp, you’ll have completed six pieces of jewellery while gaining a practical foundation that prepares you for more specialised workshops in soldering, fabrication and stone setting.

Skills You’ll Learn

Throughout the Metalsmith Bootcamp, you’ll develop core bench skills including:

  • Piercing – Cutting shapes accurately from metal sheet

  • Soldering – Joining metal components securely and cleanly

  • Drilling – Creating functional and decorative openings

  • Forming – Shaping metal using hammers, mandrels and forming tools

  • Ring Construction – Measuring, forming and soldering square or rectangular profile wire into a finished ring

  • Using Burs – Shaping and refining metal with rotary tools

  • Texturing – Creating decorative surfaces and details

  • Sanding & Polishing – Refining your work to achieve a professional finish

Six Projects. Progressive Skills.

Each project introduces new techniques while reinforcing skills from the previous sessions.

Your Bootcamp projects include:

  1. Textured Medallion – Introduction to saw piercing, hammer texturing and finishing skills

  2. Saw-Pierced Pendant – Refine saw piercing, drilling and detailed finishing techniques

  3. Silver Cuff Bracelet – Form and shape heavier-gauge metal into a wearable cuff

  4. Bronze Ring – Learn the fundamentals of ring construction, including sizing, forming, soldering and finishing

  5. Textured Flower Ring – Bring your fabrication skills together through forming, texturing, soldering and detailed finishing

  6. Organic Earrings – Apply forming, soldering and finishing techniques to create dimensional earrings

The final projects are designed to strengthen the precision and soldering control needed before progressing into more advanced jewellery-making techniques.

Where Do You Go After Bootcamp?

The Metalsmith Bootcamp gives you the foundation. From here, you can continue developing your skills through our progressive metalsmithing workshops, including:

Metalsmith: Soldering & Fabrication — Level 2

Stone Setting Modules
Learn dedicated stone-setting techniques progressively, beginning with Bezel Setting for cabochon stones, followed by additional setting styles.

Students can also continue practising independently through Rent-A-Bench sessions at My Artisan Hub — because confidence at the bench comes from practice.

Working across different metals gives you the opportunity to practise core techniques while learning how different materials respond to sawing, forming, soldering and finishing.

Flexible Scheduling
